Too much “hot air” may discourage the growth of N orwalk rather than pro- mote its development. However, to look over our assets. and to plan for the future may amount to a real boost. Norwalk’s location is close to ideal; near the greatest center of commerce and trade in this country, on a good harbor, with one of the largest railroad systems of the land running through it, and situated along the great artery of motor transportation con- necting New York city with the New England industries. , Economically, Norwalk has prospered. The rapidly increasing number of attractive homes is an evidence of this. A recent sur- ; . vey revealed the fact thht the savings deposits in the banks of 1 ‘ .- ' 1N0111 alk total over $21, 000, 000. N orwalk’s fortunate location, and economic prosperity may be an adequate base upon which to build a Greater Norwalk, if—the spirit of the community is broad and unselfish. There are many evidences that such a spirit is among us. This earnest spirit of coope1at1on is evidenced 1n our service clubs, the great community 1 /) Bible Class, and will soon produce a new institution for the benefit . \ of the youth of the entire community. ‘ I predict that the spirit of the new and greater Norwalk will soon produce. 1. A truly United City Government that shall be administer- ' , , , ed by experts trained for the jobs rather than by good citizens who can give but fragments of their time to the great task of city gov- ernment. 2 This city government will then be pushing rather than re- ta1d1ng the present forward look mg and progressive policy of our Board of Education. 3. Such a united government will have a policy for parks and p1ayg1ounds that will look to the future. ‘ 4.
