Trial Oct. 19
The nine New York men. charged
with attacking giiimciit workers in
Stamford. who are being held under
bonds of $15.0th each at the Fall‘-
ilcid County jail, will be arraigned
in the Superior court here October
19. Is was indicated yesterday the
charge originally placed against
them of assault with intent to mur-
dcr" will be changed to one of "tis-
sault with deadly weapons."
State's Attorney William II. Coni-
icy asked Judge I. I'. Waldo Marvin
to try the men iic.\t Tuesday when
court opens. but Attorney Henry E.
Shannon. for the defense. asked for
two wccks‘ extension in which time
he might prepare for the trial.
The state's attorney said the men
might in some way obtain the neces-
sary “3.3.000 which would Cover all
their bonds. and then when the case
was arraigned. the men would not
appear. but Attorney Shannon told
Judge Marvin he thought it impos-
sililo that the men would be able to
raise such a slim. Mr. Shannon is
contemplating appearing before
Judge John W. Iinnks to ask for a
reduction of tho ball of the men
who are alleged to have attacked
and beaten strike~hreuking garment
workers in tire Connecticut cities.
He has already asked Judge Marvin
to reduce the ball. but Judge Marvin
stated that so long as Judgo Banks
had sct the bail. he thought it was
proper that the question be put to
Judge Banks.
