point of view with which I am most familiar, based upon 15 years
of experience with school children.

It'brooks little what the present generation may accomplish
if the rising generation does not prepare itself to “carry on.”
I believe with all my heart in the boy and girl of today. They
are more keenly alert, more SInCerely alive to their responsibilities
and opportunities than were we of this generation.
While we boast of the tricks we played, and the time we wast-
ed in school, the. earnest desire of the majOrity- of boys and girls
today is to forge. ahead. If they boast, they boast of honors won,
of difficulties overcome and not of horseplays in school, many of
which occurred only in our imaginations. They are more sincere
and purer in their.ideals. If they go to see objectionable moving
pictures or read some of the land literature of the day, it is be- '
cause we create the pictures and write the stories and present
them to‘our- sons and daughters as our b est elforts in art and
literature. The rising generatim must be inestimably better 4 " on
we tare if they are to overcome the handicaps we are imposing up-
