persons were killed in automobile
accidents last week in this state. a
number greater than in any week
since records have been kept by the
stale motor vehicle department. The
previous high weekly total was
twelve deaths, reached last year. A
contributing factor in the new total
was the accident. at Nichols. near
Bridgeport. when five persons were
fatally injured.
A high accident total is also re-
corded for last week. 606 collisions
being reported. or forty-one more
than occurred during the correso
ponding week or 1926. More than
half the accidents occurred in tour-
ieen cities that make special re-
ports, which has been the case in
nearly every week this year.
