Treatment.
Apoording to J. B. McNair who
has given special study to this
poison. the best general treatment
for the condition is the some as that
which would be given to a superficial
burn of the skin.
The parts aflected ere iii-st bathed
vith the solution mentioned to over-
come the poison; the skin is then
dried and melted paraffin painted
over it so as to protect the parts
concerned from the air or any other
contacts. A thin sheet of cotton is
then laid over the melted parinn and
then more paradln painted on the
cotton. This makes a light. firm and
clean protective covering.
Scientists working in various re-
search laboratories have attempted
to develop anti-toxins for the poison-
ous sap ot the ivy. oelt and sumac.
but thus far none of these have been
established as succe-tul in _eny
considerable number of cases.
