tion claims Toucci is trying to secure
a position for the celebration which
will be advantageous to his grocery
store on Lexington avenue. He has
been treasurer of that organization

Judge John Keogh has been re-
tained by the objectors to represent

ed during a drunken [brawl with

bor avenue, also colored. The fight
is thought to have taken place in the
house at. 129 Harbor avenue early
Sunday morning.
The matter was brought to the
attention of the police when Smith
was arrested up Water street by Ps-
trolman John Moriarity. He had a
stab-wound in his left arm which

took the man to the office of Dr.

street. where he was treated and
sent to the hospital.

dislodge the stone were baulked by
the child himself. who fought off as-
sistance and squirmed so as to make
efficient methods impossible.
When it was seen that nothing
could be done for him and that the
situation was getting worse an au-
tomobile. getting gas at Hafner‘s
corner. was commandeered and tho
babe was rushed to Norwalk hos-
pital. While an the way there the
people made another attempt to dis-
lodge tho stone. At the hospital Dr.
William H MacMohon. after an
examination declared the boy had
died on the way. Dr. William W.
Tracey. medical. examiner. later
pronounced death due to strangula-
tion.
The child will .be buried this af-
ternoon in St. Mary‘s cemetery af-
ter funeral services from the home
at 2:30 o'clock.

at the morning services of St. Mary's
church, yesterday.
Mr. Shields was a popular Nor-

The Chrysler car owned by Emil

Friday from its parking place on
Isaac street. who found abandoned
Saturday morning in a vacant let

ing to the speedometer. and only a

Boys Caught On

On their first entrance into the

Escaped Prisoner From
Wethersfield Is Found
Walter Knoles who ran away from
the Wethcrsfleld state prison Satur-
day morning. while working on the
prision farm. was captured about 4
o'clock this morning by state police
and prison guard. He escaped with
Charles Danseratr. who was captur-
ed last evening.
Danscrau and Knolesvihis morn-
ing were once again behind the
prison walls after having spent a
wet and hungry week-end "amid
the Allan corn" of a nearby farm.
Their bid for freedom which they
had casually made. for gathering
vegetables on the prison acres in the
early forenoon of Saturday, was

had been spending a solitary vigil
in the marsh street cornfield since
