W. J. Gamble Sees More
Speed Shown In Con-
struction Beginning
Next Month.

Building in Norwalk is due toy
halts rapid progress starting the
end of this month. according to a
statement made this morning by

William J. Gamble. local wholesale
limber merchant. He attributes
the increase to a freer distribution
of money for mortgages.

“Every so often." Mr. Gamble
laid. "the local banks restrict loans
to a great extent. The last instance
I)! this was in 1922. This year there
has been a tie-up in mortgages, and
consequently. building has been
slowed down."

Local builders have reported a
decrease in the amount of buildings
during the past month. and they
welcome the announcement from
the local banks. it is said that with
the offering of money for mort-
gages. many applications have been
made here for financial aid in con-
struction. Undoubtedly. with the in-
ducements for the builder now. con-
struction work will be going m full
force within a few weeks. While lo-
cal contractors have been doing
some work recently, it has been
chiefly remodeling rather than ac-
tual. construction.

The Norwaik Building Co. reports
much progress despite the current
mortgage tie-up, which has affected
home construction in Norwaik and
vicinity. It is constructing a new
home for Wesley Johnson on Olm-
Iead Place. a new development site.
off East avenue. The firm is also
doing alteration work for Carl An-
derson on Olmstead Place. Trim.
ming work is being done for Henry
F. Beaupain in his house on High-
land avenue and for Ernest Soule
It Broadview Terrace.

A. J. Collins. local furniture deal-
er and theatre owner. is having two
houses built at Noroton Manor. Nor-
oton. Tho Norwalk Building Co. is
doing the work. They will be com-
pleted by October 1.

Fred J. Hodges. East Norwalk
contractor. is making rapid headway
.in the construction of a $20,000
home for Frank Goodehlld. Garner
street. vice president and general
manager of .l. J. Cash and Co. The
home will be erected at the north-
east corner of the former Earle es-
tate on East avenue. It will be ready
for occupancy October 1.

Alfred G. Violet. Westport con-
tractor. is constructing two houses
for Dr. Joseph Sioman on Hendricks
avenue. Worked was started recent-
ly.

The R. H. Fuller Construction Co..
Main street. is constructing six two-
family houses on its property at
Hudson Court. opposite Hudson
street. The new houses will be the
first to be built on the development
site. It is expected they will be com-
pleted by October 1.

Hudson Court is among the most
recent realty developments in Nor-
walk. Following the example of
many local realtors. the Fuller com~
pany has started grading work at
the site._and will equip it with roads
and sidewalks. Two houses are al-
ready nearing completion. and will
be ready for occupancy within a. few
weoks. Prospective buyers are al-
ready on hand.

Walter Lissberger
Ready In November

The rubber research laboratories
which are being constructed for
Walter Lirsberger on his Newtown
avenue estate are progressing rapid-
ly. It.is expected they will be com‘
pleted by November I. They will be
of steel and stone construction.
George Lamb. local contractor. is
doing the carpentry work.

The approximate cost of the la-
boratories is 820.000. They will be
used by Mr. Lissbergcr in rubber
