Bids Called For To
Repave Several Roads
Throughout County
The Connecticut highway depart-
ment announced this morning plans
for road improvement in Stamford.
Fairfield. New Canaan. and Ridge-
fleid. and called for bids from con-
tractors desiring to do the work.
About 8,000 linear feet of water-
bound maeadam will lie laid on the
Old King Highway. Fall-field. In
New Canaan. a new bituminous ma-
cadam roadway will be constructed
over a seven inch stone base on tho
Poundridge road. There will be
about 6,210 feet laid. 1.394 linear
feet of reinforced concrete pave-
mentmcnt will be constructed .on
the Boston Post road. Stamford. In
Ridgofield reinforced concrete pave-
ment will he laid on Main street and
Denbury Road. The new roadway
will extend 0.550 feet.
New Havener Dies After
Sunday Cycle Accident
STRATFORD-Patrlck Glannottl.
32. single 150 Dertt street, New
Haven. was fatally injured at 8:20
o'clock Sunday morning when a mo-
torcycle which he wee driving. With
sidecnr attached. struck a telephone
pole at the side of Lordship road.
Stratford. about one mile east of
the Bridgeport city line. .Cilannottl's
skull was fractured when his head
struck the pole. He died at Bridge.

Riding in the sidecar when the
accident occurred was Julius atom.
154 DeWitt street. New Haven. He
was flung through the air but lend-
ed on soft ground at the side of the
road. escaping serious injury.
