«Editor, The Evening Sentinel:

. It 1s a great pleasure for me to boost Norwalk and to write
these words 1n praise of the city, in which having been born and

“educated, I make my home. .

To say that Norwalk is ideally situated for important growth

is putting it mildly. In addition to possessing a fine h a r b o r on

Long Island Sound, being the gateway to th e Berkshires a n d
Litchfield County, bisected by one of the greatest traffic arteries
in the country, the Boston-Post road, and served by that great
flunk line, the N. Y., N. H and H. Railroad, Norwalk also enjoys
the distinction of being only 41 miles from the greatest education-
al, business and financial center in the world, New York city.

The influence these conditions have on the prosperity and pro-
gress of NorWalk1s obvious. Last month alone, I am told, there
were more freight cars handled 1n local yards than 1n Stamford’s
yards. Freight' 1s. a business barometer and N o r w a1 k’ s fair
weather sun is rising.

As Deputy Sheriff for Fairfield County 1n South Norwalk, for
the past 11 years, I have watched with pleasure the leaps and
bounds business has made 111 this city.

There IS no doubt 1n my mind but that Norwalk 1s ripe for a
period of unusual growth, that business h e r e is making rapid
strides and that our future status as one of the state’s most im-
portant cities 1s assured.

Allow me to congratulate The Evening Sentinel for creating
this medium for Norwalkers to sing praises of their city and at the
same time to “sell” its assets to doubting Thomases.
