The door into the bedroom where
his Twins slept in little white beds,

him when they passed. or even get
down on the floor and play with him,
and put things on his back to ride.
now they never seemed to have a
minute for a word. They never won-

Perhaps that was one reason why
the poor thing never raised his eyes.
And perhaps that‘is the reason he
did what he. did. for something un-
usual ecrtainly happened.
I forgot to tell you that Inco had
one triend. That was Flops. the
clown. You just knew they loved
each other without being told why.
Flops always went tq sleep with his
face turned toward the door and his
arms stretched out. And at night
Inco's eyes lifted themselves a bit,
just enough to observe what went on
on the toy-shelf.
One night the Twins had zone to
.bed and to sleep. Suddenly some- '
thing ‘wakened Nick and he‘reached
out to turn on the little night lamp.
But there was no need. The moon
was out and there on the window-sill
stood Ineo. On his back was Flops
the clown.
