Governor and Senator Are
To Address Session of
State Chamber of Com-
meroe.
The Griswold at New London is to
be the scene of the twenty-seventh
annual convention of the Connec-
ticut Chamber of Commerce. Tues.
day and Wednesday. June 22 and 28.
Wednesday afternoon there will be
departmental sessions in which
l'l>ea.lsers will present business ideas
on banking, insurance, manufactur.
inc, public utilities. trade and calm
mares. and local chamber- or com-
merce. At nooa a merchants' lunch-
eOn will be served.
Wednesday eveninz the annual
banquet will be held. Among the
speakers will be Senator lliIIxhsm.
Governor Trumbull, Captain lrvins
O‘Hay and ocfi‘iers and prominent
mombers‘of the chamber.
The business session will be held
Wednesday morning. when the an.-
nua] reports will be read. recom-
mendations of omcers and members
will be considered and officers will
be elected.

The leading social event will be
the ball Tuesday evening. a new fea-
ture of the annual convention. Gov-
ernor and Mrs. Trumbull will lead
the grand march. The Griswold 0r.
chestra will furnish music. The New
London Chamber of Commerce has
preparde a prosrstn of entertain-
ment which includes a golf tourna-
ment with prizes.
This year the management or the
state chamber will introduce a new
feature. by providing a program of
entertainment for the wives and
families of members. Mrs. Trunk
bull is chairman of the women's
committee and Mrs. Walter s. (lur-
de. wife of the president of the New
London Chamber of Commerce. ‘is
chairman of the New London wo-
men's committee. The two-day pro-
gram will include automobile trips -
to bridge parties. golf, tennis and
other features. President and Mrs.
Rosers of the chamber will enter-
atin with tea at their home.

The plant department of the local
exchange of the Southern New Eng-
land Telephone Company is com-
pleting work on‘the laying of a
submarine cable under the river in
Wcstport. It is a. 400 pnir cable and
will give additional and lunch nood-
ed facilities in Suugatucit. The new
cable will be open for service in a
very short time.
The district plant conference
board met at the Hotel Morohouso
in Bridgeport last Tuesday. Norwalk
was represented by David 0. Cox.
