Fairneld County scholastic league
with three wins and no deiests.
. The Danbury team is in second
Discs with two wins and one loss.
Norwelk is third with one win and
swo defeats. Felrtleld is in the cel-
lar with three defeats.
Norwalit High won the champion-
ship lut year. It was necessary to
play oft a tie with Greenwich. Each
team won the games on its home
field. but lost out or town. The re-
sult was that the two nines were
tier.
Nor-walk dud Greenwich clashed
at Stemtord. Noruuik swamped
lap of the necessary three to per.

that may he of interest to the fans
of this section. The Sentinel ob-
tained the opinions of several of
the lea’ding. sport fans in the Coun-
ty to select a. team oi: players which
they thought were the best in ac-
tion this year.
These teams were. limited to play-
. ers residing in Folriieid County. A
. representative of The Evening Sen-
tinel has seen all the loading teams
and players in the county in action
for the past six years. Players from
the following teams there c‘nslder-

Men, Comno Life Guards. Fairileid

around players. a. t or oftensive

Several different things were nec-
essary before a choice was made.
The oit'ensive and defensive skill
and work of each player has been
divided into groups. The ability 0!
n. player to carry the boil down the
iioor. his spend, his ability to break
away from. an opposing guard. his
long shots. close shots, his toul
shooting. his passing ability and his
general ail-around itoor work was
considered on the oriense. 0n the
defense a. player was watched for
his ability to stick with a men, abil-
ity to block. ability to break up fast
passing. ability to stop a men with-
out fouling him.
The detenslre team would include
Nils Anderson oi: the Strsttord
American Legion and Tommy
" O'Rourke oi! the same team as for.
V wards; George Smith at center: Ped-
dy Driscoli and Willis Cavenagh as
guards. These players were the out-
! standing detensire men in basket-
ball this winter.
The odensive ‘team is made up of
Jack Hogan of New Canaan and Bill
Court. as forwards. George Smith
is at center 'with “Red" Kelly of
New Canaan and Eddie McMahon to
complete the are men. These play-
ers were the most dithcult to stop
and their shooting was accurate.
They could drop in either long or
short shots. Their foul shooting
also was read.
