An ordinance passed by the coni-
mon council last evening places the
playgrounds of the city under the su-
pervision of the board of charities.
The ordinance was presented by
Councilman John Illlls and (leslg- 1
notes .hree playgrounds. Mr. Mills
i presenting the ordinance mid he
in favor of its passage. lie was
of the opinion that a city of this
size was lurgn enough to control
playgrounds and thought they should
anaintsined by the city and an ap-
WIpriation granted by the board of
estimate and taxation for this pur-
pose.
In previous years the playgrounds
have been maintained by the Play-
grounds sseocistion and it has been 1
necessary to raise the money by sub-
