I have been interested and impressed by your sustained campaign to boost Not-walk, first in the eyes of its own citizenry and second in its standing among its sister cities in the state. . May I bring to your attention one existing agency for boosting this city, which perhaps to some extent has been neglected by local business men? That agency is the Not-walk Board of Trade. a I would like to ask every Norwalk business man this question: “Are you atliliatcti with the Norwalk Board of Trade?” ‘ From close personal observation, I know his active. Some day all will wake to the realization there is a strong non-political association in our midst which has a decided in~ fluence on the control of civic affairs. ‘ . If we look to the Board of Trade through selfish eyes, we may see little of its work, but if we study it from the point of view of communityiutcrcst, we soon realize it is to our mutual benefit to support its work. Many are affiliated with the Board of Trade, but not to a sufiicient extent. The an- nual dues are, without a question, too low to permit extensive work being done. The big work is all done voluntarily. The Board needs more money to work with. This is the way we all should look at it: What is the Board of Trade worth to us, as business men, in its ctforts to bring new concerns to Norwalk, to develop civic matters and to advertise this city to the rest of the country? Many of us pay outside organizations from $25 to $100 a year for varied services which fall approximately into the same category and therefore I believe the good offices of a local organization we can work with and for are worth much more. The following plan has been adopted to in crease the Board of Trade ’s financial strength: It a business man thinks $3 for one member ship per annum covers his needs and his duties to the Board, then let him mail a check for that amount, but if he thinks $30 for ten mem- bership for himself and associates is more in keeping with his desires to see this organi..t- tion and the city grow, then we want his check for $30. The more memberships a company has the more votes it will have in meetings of the Board. This precedure will give the alert and progressive business men of the ”city the power they need in the.development ot‘ the greatest civic association we have. We want to do big things to boost Nor-walk and every business man can help by en- rolling bis statf as members of the Norwalk Board of Trade. Yours truly F.
