In my opinion the grand list of the city is the best proof. In 1915 our grand list was a trifle over 28 million and our present ’list is over 42 mflliOn, or about an 85 per cent increase. , Norwal]: did not grow over night. Its growth has been slow but steady. ’All our factories are working and to find an unemployed man is rare. There are dozens of reasons for the growth of Norwalk. First and fore- most, of course, is the fact that our factories are always working. It is inipossible to mention all the reasons for this growth, but a few of the reasons are: plenty of churches, good schools, an up—to-dats hospital ~ good theatres wherep the best of entertainment is furnished us, and a good water system. ., . Among other reasons are our ideal location, healthy environment, good banking facilities, good train service and our being on the main line of the “New Haven” railroad. is Also, we have our service clubs such as Kiwanis, Lions and Toreadors which are continuously bdosting N orwalk. Permit me to make a few suggestions which will help make Norwalk bigger and better in-the future. .. . 1. More boosting and less knocking on the part of those who live here. 2. Real consolidation by elimination of at least four of the present tax- ing districts. * . 8. Completion of the park near the Washington street bridge. ' 4. A paving program which will make our highways better ' ' 5. More sewers to tahe care of our present and future needs. '_ .. 8. Constructive and not destructive criticism.
