Florida has one important contribution tomake to the welfare of this and ’ many other New England communities. It has perfected its chambers of commerce and boards of trade to a high degree and made them function for the benefit of the cities in which they are located. Each chamber of éommerce is a self-appointed boosters club and pays big dividends in building good will'and attracting a worth-while class of resiv dents. . . 'Mrs. Gorham and _I toured Florida very completely and then decided we liked the high central part of the state the best for our vacation. We lived ‘at Mt. Dora. We met many Norwalk friends in various cities and found we could always locate them through the board of trade. ‘ _ Theiboard of trade in each Florida city is proving its worth in manya ways. It gathers and spreads information of all kinds in behalf of its city. It is this spirit of service, plus the publicity about Florida’s sunshine, which is making that statethe nation’s winter playground. - , After noting the prices .asked for Florida property, I have come home with the convictionthat Norwalk’s lots and homes‘in many instances are underpriced._ We can profitably take a leaf from Florida’s notebook, organ ize an active chamber of commerce here under the leadership of a paid secre- tary and give it our hundred per cent backing. .
