Stamford. Who became temporarily
' deranged Wednesday afternoon while
at work at the Erskine Dani‘orth
corporation. Stamford. cut himself
and four others in an attempt to
’. commit suicide. Tusoro drew a pen-
knife without warning and succeed-
ed in cutting himself in the left arm
above the elbow. before he was dis~
armeduby fellow workers. who were
slightly out by the flourishing wea-
pan.
The man was attended by Dr.

to Dr. Barnes' unstarium where he

The Packard Motor Car Com-
pany has purchased more than 600
acres of land for an automobile
proving ground. The tract which
lies two miles south of Milford.
Michigan is one of the few spots in
southern Michigan which

mostly girls. were later satisfied
their work was not dangerous and
the majority of them returned.
Twenty-two girls. the entire force
of the radium department at the
New Haven Clock company's plan:
here. went on strike following sen-
sational stories of girls working with
radium in a New Jersey clock fac-
tory being maimed through radium
paleonins.
Officials of the company at once
called the girls together and offered
to have the Yale School of Medicine
' go into the matter. examine the
girls and study conditions at the
plant. As a result all but five girls
