There has been so much printed in your booster pages setting forth the natural and theoretical advantages of this city, expressed in previous let ters, that I hesitate to place my views before your readers. . I believe that this bank’s record since its start in 1914 is a fair indication of the growth of the city. Today, practically ten years later, the bank has $1,000,000.00 in assets, having started “at scratch.” We believe that one of the largest factors in the future growtli of the city depends upon the number of new people coming in, representing factory 1nte1 ests These new people are naturally going to build new homes and add to the prospei 1ty of our retail stores. In most part, the roads of our city are in good shape, but in many cases the roads and sidewalks could be improved to the betterment of the town. During the war, this city did not see the high and low marks‘of pros- pc 'ng which neighboring cities experimced. It was because of the diversifi- . cation of articles manufactured here :Itat there was not the fluctuation'in Norwalk. The real estate values of the city are going up gradually, especially busi- . ness p1 operty The main business streets of this city, Washington street * J ' and Wall street, can only hold so many stores. When the city grows beyond that point the business, of necessity, must be done elsewhere. Having been a close observer of the trend of affairs in this city for a long time, I feel if all the citizens of this community would get behind the city ' administration and “boost” that there would not be so many N orwalk knockers.
