lack. owner of the ten-story left
buidlng at 15 East Seventh Street
entered the premises recently to see
whether the layout of the third
floor would be suitable for n pros-
pective tenant. The t‘ntll‘c floor had
been vacant for a year. and Pollack
missed the rent. He hoped now to
get the entire building occupied.
To his amazement. 0n enteritis
the place. he found a woman tenant
installed there. Three empty boxes
constituted her bed and an old
swehtcr her pillow. A tattered ooat
\vAs the quilt. A few empty milk
bottles and cans indicated the sec-
tion designated as kitchert and din-
ing room. The woman's only com-
panions were two otherwise homo-
iess cats.
A patrolman took the woman to
. Yorkvilie Court. She said her name
as Alice Murray. and that she for-
merly lived at 146 Hudson Avenue.

Academy. Rear Admiral W. R.
Shoemaker. chief of the Bureau of
Navigation. said yesterday in his an-
nual report. to Secretary Wilbur.
Admiral Shoemaker urged that
the present allotment of three ap-
pointees to each representative and
senator be increased to at least tour.
which he estimated would make
available between 700 and 750 of—
floors for naval aviation. while "It:
training of an equal number of on-
