Women is making plans for a se-

given at the time of their regular
‘ meetings on the third Friday of
each month where such a. date is
possible. These monthly lectures will
be open to the public at a small
charge and will be free to members.
The first lecture will be given late
‘ in June. probably on the 29th. by
Mrs. George Pierce Baker, wife of
Professor Baker formerly of the 4'!
To Get Trip
Winners of the D. A. R. prises
given at Fairneld High school since
1917 are receiving the following
pleasant surprise in the form of a
letter from William E. Smith. su-
perintendent of schools in Fairileld:
“The donor of the D. A. R. prizes.
‘known as the George Washington
prizes. Miss Annie 1;. Jennings, is
quite anxious that all winners of
these prizes since their establishment
in 1917 be given a trip‘ to Washing-
ton at her expense. The main reason
for giving this trip to the winners is
to afiord opportunity for all to visit
1Mount Vernon-omthe-I’otomac. the
wonderful estate of the “Father of
our Country." Opportunity will also
‘ be given to visit all points of inter-
‘ est in the City of Washington. The
trip will probably consume four or
five days. giving three full days in
Washington.
“Miss Jennings has signified her

conduct the party. To this end I

CHOIR GIRLS
THEIR CHANGE
The rise to prominence of two ob-
scure choir girls by the helping hand
~ of radio broadcasting is one of the
most r‘hmantic stories in annals.
Five months ago two girls were
singing a sacred duet in a. choir in
one of those storybook-like church-
es in a Chicago suburb.
With the elegance and finish of
seasoned prime donnas they pro-
tected their silvery tones through
every nook and cranny of the little
* church.

' rear pew was struck by the sheer
beauty of the voices and after serv-
ices sought an introduction.
Dorothy Wilkins and There Mar-
tens were persuaded to enter radio-
land and broadcast their songs regu-
larly for WH'I‘.
Recently J. J. Shubert was making
”another production cast for the opcr-
{me hit. “The Student Prince.” The
party was practically recruited, but
two name parts were missing.

er” the lyrics of which were written

granddaughter of Senator Railings-
worth; and the music by Miss Kaye
Blglow. Miss Holllngsworth receiv-
ed the inspiration for the song while
she was in the Near East. Clayton P.
