the Big Horn country when he was
23 years of age. Shortly there fol-
lowed William Concreitfe. scion of
a Scottish nobleman. He acquired
a ranch near the Wallop homestead.
It’was not long before Malcolm
Monerciffc. a brother. came to form
the nucleus of the colony.
A new- bond was forged when
Wallop . married Miss Marguerite
Walker ,ostrankfort. Ky.. and Mrs.
Wallop‘s sister became the bride of
Malcolm Mbncraiffc.
The Moncreiffe and Wallop
ranches are the stronghold of the
colony today.
The Wallop ranch home. how-
ever. lacks the picturesqueness of
the western ranch house of fiction.
It is a semi-rustic dwelling not in a
wide expanse. of driveways and

Malcolm Moncreiffo built a “polo
ranch"nvith a stately English ina-
nor set in a grove of trees. In that
home were the heirlooms and treas-
ured belongings of a lifetime. A
mystery fire, however. razed the
home last year while the Mon-
crelffes were returning from a visit
to England. Mdncreiffe. who is
president of the Sheridan County
Wool Growers’ Association and one
of the leading flookmasters of Wyo- .
mlng. plans to r'cbulld on the same
site.
Willilim Monereiffc finally settled
farther north and became the owner
of the co nty’s “show place." La-
