Editor, The Evening Sentinel, Do I believe in Norwalk? You bet! But I would like to make one suggestion in 1ega1d to the Post road through Norwalk. So many booste1s have set foxth Norw alk’s charm, there is nothing left for me to say in that legard 4‘ We are all familiar with the almost daily accidents at the Mortuary Turn at Westport Hill and the frequent trail‘le jams in front of the carbarns at Wall str'eet. . . There are approximately 6,000 automobiles in this city, the owners of which, no doubt, have travelled from New York to New Haven and have not encountered as bad a traffic condition in that entire distance as is to be found in our city. In Fairfield the Post 1oad 1s being st1aightened out, although the tuins were not very bad there. The samething 15 being done 1n Westport, Stam- . ‘ ford and various other places. My suggestion is: That a b1idge be erected ac10ss the river at Butler street to East Nor- walk and that the Post road continue from the Armory hill through Butler street, crossing the suggested bridge thence directly east to the Post road. This route would eliminate traffic congestion in Wall street and the two very bad turns mentioned above. Of course, the cost of the bridge would be large but the State would help materially in oti‘setting the expense of this improvement. If automobile tialfic continues to inciease in the next ten years the way it has 1n the last five, it 1111] be absoluteh necessa1y to guide through traffic some other way than along its piesent c0111 so. We should make plans now. A committee should be appointed to look into the costs of this pioject so that at the next session of the State Legislature the m at te r could be b1 ought up. 1. _ WENDELL P.
