PARIS. Sept. Ell—(AP). The
highest prices cvcr paid for grapes
from the famous "King‘s Vine" at
Fontsinbiead’ were realized at the
annual sale. when a‘um noirly dou-
ble that of 1924 was taken in.
The 1025 production. which was
of good average quality brought 1..
1'00 francs for 36 lots of ‘35 pounds
each. as against 000 francs in 1024.
The grapes come from tho cele-
brated vino. planted by King Henry
IV in the iSth Century. With the
care given it by Louis XIV and de-
spite Napoleon‘s indifferemto. it is
now engendered the finest specimen
of its ind in Europe.
It has a counterpart in Hampton
court. England, which porduccd this
year 600 bunches of grapes.
Longer skirts. longer sleeves and
high collars will be lho' rule in wo-
men‘s'dress for the coming fall and
winter seasons, the dictators of
fashion have ruled.
Most of the fall and winter mod-
els displayed at the "grand open-
ings" of the leading dressmakers
show a decided tendency toward
tight fitting. particularly at the nor-
mal waist line.
All the frocks for daytime wear
have long sleeves, mostly large front
elbow to wrist. and nearly all have
high collars. some reaching to the
ears. .
For evening the styles run to lace.
in black. gold or silver; velvets and
silk or chiffon in light colors. Many
are fur-trimmed, and all_ have em.
broldery. in floral designs. of the
finest beads.
~ The colors‘ mostly used are black,
purple. bright blue. gray, all shades
of green and red. 'Much of the rod
is combined with black and many
o! the blues are two-toned.

accumulate. on the outside walls of-
the Opera House during the last ten
years has raised a sharp controversy
in artistic circles.
