You ask me why I believe in Norwalk.
, . In the words of Edward Everett Hale “This is my own, my native land.”
Its historic past, its present growth, and its prospects for the future, make
me glad to say that I was born and live in Norwalk
I believe in Norwalk because I believe that we are rapidly dlawing near
to the time when we can proudly say that it is a united city; that we no
longer have a north and south 1101' an east or west The people will soon
point to an improvement in the Inst Second, 01' any other d1st11ct with equal
pride. The old ball and chain of sectionalism will be shaken off. Everyone
will be w01 king f01 the ad\ ancement 0f the City, which is bound to come with
so 111ai1y natural advantages.
The 1110perty owneis in N01 walk have had the1r lesson They know that
we cannot impiove the City without spending money, that public improve-
ments attract people and business and IS capital well invested The willing-
ness of property owneis to pay for public improvements is now being evi-
denced by all the owners 011 Ohio Avenue having curbs and gutters laid at
their own expense in order that the City will improve the remainder of the
' street. It clearly indicates that the people want'1mprovements and are will-
ing to pay for them. , .
I fully believe that N 01 walk 15 growing more and more iapidly, and that
this g1 owth is increasing the value of both business and residential property.
I further believe that the people Of Norwalk are wil 1' in g to' 1nc‘rease this
g1owth and value by the judicial improvement and extension of our streets,
sewers, water mains, and other public necessities
In view of what I have said and the many things that might be added,
I feel that I am justified in my belief-' 111 No1walk.
