WESTPORT. Sept. 9.—-Prot. Har—
rison R. Steevcs and Mrs. Charming
P. Harris of the school committee.
will decline another nomination

Republican caucus next Monday
ght. Prof. Steevcs claims that
ressurs or other business will pre-
vent him from serving another term
and Mrs. Harris today declared that
five years was long enough for a
person to serve and that someone
else should be given an opportunity.
Prof. Steeves. as chairman of the
committee is said to have been
obliged to give much more time to
the school department problems
than he could spare from his pri-
vate work as a. teacher at Columbia
and as an author on educational
subjects. During his two years in
office he had to asume most of the
work or planning tor the new Greens
Farms elementary school. which is
now ready for occupancy and also
for the construction of the Bediord
Junior High school for which every-
thing is now all prepared.
With Mrs. Harris and Prof.
Steeves eliminating themselves from
the committee and E. C. Smith rs--
G. 0. P. will have to cast about for
three new nominees. It 1s'ssid that
these three places wil be the only
principal offices to undergo a
change. -
