Nancy and Nick and Juggle Jump
came to Yum Yum Land next in
their search for Putt's lost buttons.
They had found three. but there
were nine more still missing.
Now in Yum Yum Land the peo-
ple do nothing but cook and eat.
And as the Twins and their friend
passed along. the. most delicious
smells met their noses.

They were soon to find out whehc
the smells came from. (or on one
window sill there were six cherry
pies set. out to cool. On another
there were twenty glasses of brand
new Jelly. Still another window still
held a baking of fresh raisin bread
and coffee cak that fairly made
your month we er.

The travelers knocked on the first
door they came to. Instantly it was
opened by a jolly looking woman
who was very. very fat.

“How do you do." said Nick. “We
are strangers in a strange land. and
two are looking for something. Did
you see such a thing as a large
pearl button with four holes in it?"
“Buttons!" cried the woman.
“Buttons! Why I haven‘t seen a
button since it snowed in July. But-
tons don‘t stay on me any longer
than a drop of water on a hot stove.
The minute I get them on. off they
go. .I've tried hooks and eyes, too.
but it. was the same thing over
again. You might try next door."
80 next door they went. This time

“Buttons!" he cried when
heard what they were after. “3
tons in Yum Yum Land are
scarce as feathers on fish. No -
in Yum Yum Land has seen a. -
ton since apples grew on Chris ..
trees. We are all too fat. here
buttons to last' more than 8. ml!!-
and a half. But you might try .
door."

From door to door of this str ~
place went Juggle Jump and I
Twins. ,

But no one had ever heard
Putt‘s button or any other but .
in tact.

At last they met a. peddler. “
ornaments for your mantelpie
called the peddler. "Or any
dishes for your table?"

He stopped when he saw-
Twins coming. "Here. little ‘1
he said to Nancy. “I have the
est. plates for a doll set. you 9
saw. They are very pretty
have all the colors of the rain-

They say it's the stuff that me u 1
houses are made of, and con
right out of the sea. Wou’t

buy them?"
And there. it you please. w
four of poor Puff's buttons!
He charges two bits and 8. nl .
and luckily Juggle Jump had .
money. 9
"That makes seven." he sold. ‘
they left Yum Yum Land to con 1
me their travels. "

I. jolly fat man let them in.
