The tide brought the Sunday
crowds to the park early yesterday
morning. Superintendent Charles A.
Piahl estimated that more than 15.-

the day. The grove. parking oval.
beach and stands were overflowing
with people. The special excursions
were the Lincoln Council. K. of C..
Ladies' Auxiliary. The Foresters of
America. and Cowperthwait & Sons
employes of New York. Hundreds of
other recreation seekers came by
trolley. and more by machines. A
ten-minute schedule was put into ef-
fect by the Connecticut. Company.
and every trolley was packed. The
fine weather and high tide filled the
park from early in the day and the
band concert kept the crowd there
until evening.

The stage is all set for the Monkcr
Grotto benefit dance tomorrow night.
Volk‘s Society Orchestra. has been
engaged for the dance to he held in
the park pavillion. Manager Allen
has been getting the floor in the best
condition for the big ball. The dance
will be informal.

The American Band from South
Norwalk gave a fine concert at the
Point last night. Several thousand
people gathered to listen to the mu-
sic. Popular and semi-classical num-
bers were played. .

The story of "The Monster" be.
gins with the strange disappearance
of a wealthy citizen of a small town
and the resulting excitement. John-
11_\' Arthur. as the detective. decides
to solve the mystery, and. while
working on a clue. is shot down a
chute into a. strange house. where
skeletons appear in closets. ghostly
hands are extended wherever he
turns. and terrifying shadows fall on
the walls. The girl and another
suitor of hers also arrive in this can-
itartum. where a series of harrowing
experiences pursue them. The cli-
max is surprising. and is disclosed
only at the end of the picture when
Johnny solves the mystery and wins
the heroine.

ten by Willard Mack and Albert G.
Kenyon. C. Gardner Sullivan wrote
the titles.
