ing at the home of Miss Eleanor Da-
venport. Miss Bond was completely
taken by surprise. Dancing was en-
joyed and refreshments of ice-cream
cake and punch were served. Those

church tomorrow afternoon and

its organization this‘morning when
Chief Harry Smith began duties at
the headquarters in the Town Hall.

who has been officer at the desk. will
be relieved of some. of his duties
with the advent of Chief Smith.
Two new bicycles. equipped with
search-lights, arrived in the station
yesterday. with which officers will
patrol the streets. thus setting aside
the fears of some residents of Daricn
that the new force will be a traffic
unit only. It is probable that Terry
Lambmt will be assigned to the desk
now inthe evening. since he has not
entirely recovered from injuries re-
ceived in a recent accident. and will
be unable to take part in active serv.
