One of the most important steps
in the completion of the proposed
pat-it south of the Washington street
bridge along Sesview avenue is be-

The erection of the bulkhead be-
tween the isolated city dock and the
Washington street draw has been
started. For several days workmen
have been digging ditches from the
dock north to the bridge .and along
the span of the bridge easterly to
dry land. This area was formerly
occupied by oister concerns. and
the soil is chiefly made up oi
vdumped oyster shells.
In spite of tedious digging. the
gang of laborers has completed its
task. and after sawing through rot-
ted ties and optics. is beginning to
