during the closing house of the
State chisisiure yesterday Gov.
Trumbull delivered the following
address. He received a fine ova-
tion from the members when he ar-
rived in the assembly chamber.
Gov. Trumbull said:
"In accordance with the time hon.
ored custom. wears convened in
joint convention for the purpose of
udjournlng sine dies the 1925 session
of the General Assembly. and unless
the clerks of the past sessions and
history have been singularly lax in
chronicling such occasions. i know
of no instance when actions on final
adjournment have been withheld by
general request or have ever met
with the disapproval of this body.
.“With the tremendous increase in
the extent and complexity of our so.
cial, economic and political activi-
ties changes or alterations in the
scope and additions to the extent at
governmental operations become in-
evitable and necessary. Consequent-
ly you have had a large volume of
legislation to consider and your ac-
,on has been marked with a sincere
sltort and. I believe. I. succmtul
one to legislate wisely. It has been
'snaoiod only after lair investigation
and has not resulted in radical or
unduly novel pxpsriments; Conseer
stism and clear thought have merit-
ed your achievements and the per-
plexing problems and their multi-
pliiciy have not blinded your vision.
In view of this.’ i have not felt rs-
qulred or justified in transmitting to
you executive objections.

tion we strived.to place it on plain
and tundameniai business principles.
For the first time in-a great many
years the General Assembly has pro.
ccoded on a sound and logical the-
ory. Having determined the income!
of the State, you have appropriated
within that figure and. for the en-
suing two years. we will live within
our means and I venture to make
this prediction—«became of your sin-
core and eager co- -operaiion, it.
would now appear. at the cloae of
the last fiscal year occurring under
this administration. figuring maxi-
mum expenditures deducted from
minimum revenue. we should be able
to show a. balance to the citizens of
our State.
and unswervlng devotion has been
characteristic of every Joint stand-
ing and special committee of this
session. Each has labored indus-
triously and wisdom 'marks its
achievements.
"Personally I acknowledge the
courtesy which you have invariably
extended lo the executive and the
confidneco you have manifested to-
ward tho Governor. And I am
deeply grateful for this very loyal
support and co-pperatlon. To be
the Governor of this State is a great
honor. it has been a. joy and pleas-

Frederick W. Huxford in the Crim-

days for kicking the horse and was

Many times. mind you. he has kick-
