BRITISH ADMIRAL DIES

Sturdee. admiral of the fleet. who
commanded the British squadron in
the battle or Falkland Islands in
1014 and later participated in the
battle at Jutland. died yesterday.
Admiral Sturdee had been ill for
some time at his residence in Cam-
beriey. in Surrey .where his . death
occurred. Entering the navy in
1871 he rose by successive stages to
the rank of Rear Admiral in 1999.
