Irene Rich. the licautliul and
charming screen actress, has made
a. sweeping attack on the entire
male species. It is her firm convic-

tion that practically all men are at.
flicted with jealous and suspicion:
natures, while women are more
trusting and ham great taith in
others.

The occasion for Miss Rich's re-
marks was the theme or the dra-
matic motion picture. “Pal 0'
Mine," in which she has the leading
role; and which opened at the Pill-
aco theatre last night. ‘

"I am convinced." said Bliss Rich,
"that most men. with very few ex-
ceptions, are vr-ry jealous in the
same way as Frank Travers, my
husband in ‘I‘ul 0‘ Minc,‘ my latest
picture. The irilfc, on the other
hand, trusts. She usually has con-
fidence in her husband, and never
believes anything wrong of him un-
til she is absolutely convinced of it.
Men are suspicious. If their wives
look at other men with a. passing
glance. or it gentlemen pay them
compliments, husbands immediately
feel the keen pangs of jealousy and

completely change the appearance
facially and otherwise of a. girl star
that even her most intimate friends
cannot recognize her. This was
brought very forcibly to notice in
the case of Edith Roberts, playing
a. leading feminine role in "On Thin
Ice." under the direction of Mal St.
Clair. at \Varncr Bros. Studio. Miss
Roberts. who played ‘it featured role
in "The Age of Innocence" a. few
months ago on this lot. wore a.
blond \ng of long curls, and in her
present picture she appears in her
natural bobbed curly hair. which is
chestnut Lrown. The same stat! of
electricians and property men
worked on these pictures. and it was
with great difficulty Miss Roberts
convinced them she was the same
girl who played in “The Ascent In-
nocence." In "On Thin Ice." Miss
Roberts has (hr. biggest role of her
care-:rn—she is the only credited fe-
male player in the cast. and the
entire plot centers around her. It
is a. story dealing with underworld
life, and its characters are taken
from the higher and lower classes
(-2 society.

Others'in the cast of "On Thin
Ice” are Tom Moore, “’llliam Rus-
sell. rIheodore Von Eltz. \Vilrred
North. Gertrude Robinson. Jimmie
Quinn and The Texas Kid. This
pliotoplay wil be seen at the Rialto

day in “The Conqueror." one of his

the part of General Sam Houston.
one of America’s early heroes.

Sam Houston. horn in‘ Virginia.
in 1793. went to Tennessee in boy-
hood. At the age of 28 he was a
major goneral.‘ Afacr two tcrms‘
in Congress he has elected Gov-
ernor ot 'I‘nnpesscc- Moving to
Texas. he became commander- in-
chief of Texas troops and through
his voctory oxer the Mexicans at
Santa. Anna. Texas became one of
the United States. Houston served
