AID CARNIVAL

not accepted the refusal of the First
District Commissioners to allow the
Green and Union Park to be used.

ascertained this morning by the
Evening Sentinel.
A request to residents ‘iVing on
streets surrounding the Green to
sign a petition to the commission-
ers to grant the firemen the use
of the Green for their annual
carnival is being circulated today.
The committee in charge of the
petition consists of Captain Syl‘xes-
ter Brotherton. of Hope Hose com—
pany, and Lieutenant Frank Scul-
ley. of Phoenix Engine company.
It is understood that a number of
residents have already aimed the
petition. -
Unless the firemen are granted
permission to use the Green, it is
generally understood that the year-

is felt that the carnival will not be
a success if held outside of the city-
limits.
