Department of Labor on retail
food costs in 20 of the 51 cities
for which monthly reports are re-
ceived showed a. decrease in in
cities during the month ending
March 15.
The maximum decrease of 8 per
cent was reported at Fall River.
Mass. Portland. Maine. and Pro.
vidence. R. l. A two per cent
drop was shown for Boston
Bridgeport. New Haven and
Scranton. The six citieg showing

Bowling league gathered last night
at the Mahackemo hotel and cele-
brated the closing of the bowling
season with s dinner. The affair
was one of the most successful ever
held by followers of bowling. The.
big feature of the affair was the
presentation of the prizes.
The dinner. itself. was excellently
prepared and well served. It con.
slsted of roast turkey and all the
flx'in's. There was music during the
dinner. '
Attorney Joseph Llnxweiler act-
ed as tonsimastcr. He read a series
of challenges. Leo Gonch. Sr.. was
challenged by his son. Leo. to e no-
ries of 100 bowling games—en en-
durance contest. The single men
of the Elks club. under the leader-
ship of Abe Tarlov. challenged the
married men. under the captaincy
of Jimmie Marino. ‘
Representing the Elite. Charles H.

plimenting the league upon the
manner in which it kept together
