BRIDGEPORT, Feb. 27. .— J. A. Dickerman, ballistic ex-
pert at the Remington~Arms Amunition Company of Bridge-
port, was the last witness called by the" state yesterday in the
trial of Carl Wilson, Stamford negro, for murder in the second de-
gree. The bullet that killed Henry Redd,_Thanksgiving night in
Stamford, was exhibited by Mr. Dickerman and the riding or
groves on the leaden piece, were compared and shown to be similar
to those on a bullet fired from the gun found on \Vilson after his
arrest. Edward Townes, colored, of Stamford, held for a time as
the murderer, and Elijah “Highpockets” “'right, a principal in
the afiray, were. also called to the stand. Both told of the quar-
rel at Wise’s saloon in Canal street, that led up to the shooting.
Townes reiterated his accusation that \Vilson did the killing.
Wright denied on examination by the defense, that he was wanted
for a shooting in North Carolina; that he asked \Vilson for a gun
or offered to sell him one at any time before the fatal mellee. Oth-i

ing, and the statement regarding
Wilson is said to have been made
after the wounded man had been in-
formed that his death was immi-
ncnt.
