Howard Spinney or this town is dead

ney died last night in a, Portsmouth.
N. H. hospital shortly after Lelbmau
shot him while the two men were

Spinney's home. ’
Immediately after the shooting
Llebman gave himself up to a. deputy
sheriff. He was to be arraigned at
Klttery today charged with murder
in the first degree. Leibman told
the authorities he ilred in self de-
tense, intending only to disable
Splnney who had knocked him down
twice with his fists.
According to the police. a bull dog
owned by Spinney ottacked Leib-
man‘s little daughter yesterday, tear-
ing her clothing and terrifying her.
Last night Leibman went with the
child to Spinney's home intending to
complain about the dog. A quarrel
developed. which was continued on
the roadway in front of Spinncy‘s
house.
