schools being kept closed. Super-
intendent Buchanan. however. said

in the death of Jennie Gurney. who
died on Christine!» day in the Nor-
waix hospital from injuries sustained
when the automobile in which she
was riding crashed into a train at
the Gather-me street crossing of
Danbury branch line.
. The automobile was being op’erat-
ed by Andrew Miialy. Jr.. of Mor-
ton street. who is still held by the
police on a technical charge of
manslaughter. Coroner Pheian rec-
ommends that steps be taken by the
local authorities to remedy condi-
tions at the Catherine street cross-
ing. . »
He says: "It may not be improper
to say that for the convenient use of
the public .and of eastbound trut-
dc in particular. the west approach
to the crossing. in my opinion. is
hazardous. especially so when ice-
ousted.
"The regrettable fatality sustained
'ln the death of the deceased. togeth-
er with the lifelong injuries enacted
by some other companions as well
as well as the public apprehension
of danger at that crossing. urgently
calls for 4110 bruising of the crossing
