tle between marine police and rum
smugglers aboard a motor boat
which contained 200 cases of cham-
pagne early today inaugurated the

suffering from .a. compound fracture
of the right knee cap and a out over
the right eye, received 1.3 an auto-
mobile accident last evening. at the
corner or Winfield street and How-
ard avenue. Percival Bennett of
Bridge street and Alfred Furma‘no
of Burbank street. the drlvcrs and
owners or the cars are both under
arrest.

Bennett was driving east in Win—
field street and turned into Howard
avenue, as Furmano was driving out.
or the street. the two cars collided.
doing considerable damage to both.
iNelther of the drivers was injured.

lcar. Landing on his right- knee cap.
11-10 was taken. to the office of Dr.

the Norwalk Hospital. Passatume is
a disabled veteran of the World War
and unable to work. because of dia-
abtllties received while serving in
Siberia.

The accident was investigated. by
Patrolman Louis Brehm. who pinc-
ed Bennett under arrest on the
charge or reckless driving and Fur‘
mano on the charge 0! not having
his car registration with him. The
men were both released under bonds
of $350. *
