Ccrroner John J. Pheisn yesterday
made no“ the text of his finding
in the case or the three colored
men who have been under detention
tn the local polioe station since the
shooting of Henry Redd. a local cal-
o d man. who was mortally
unded as he stood near his home.
Thanksgiving Day. after an argu-
ment that started over a. card game
in a pool room conducted by Will-
iam Wise.
In the finding which was given
out early yesterday morning Coron-
er Phelsn specifically charges Will-
iam “Cari" Wilson. of this city, with
being the man who fired the fatal’
shot that lodged in the back or
Redd. causing almost instantaneous
death.
Coroner Phelan. in his tinting.
states that he fails to see where Ed-
ward Townes or Elijah “Highpock-
ets" Wright. who are being held in
connection with the case. can speci-
cause of the fact that the evidence
presented at the numerous hearings
held in the local court room show
that neither 0! them had a gun in
their possession, More or after the
shootinc.
- "Investigation showed through the
volume and tangle of dubious tes-
timony taken before me that the to!-
iowing seemed fairly established. to
wit: about 5:85 p. m. on Thanksgiv-

Townes. Elijah Wright and Carl “'il-
son. all alleged to be somewhat un»
der the influence of liquor. were with

ed a loan of money from Wright.

tices to the latter and his mother.

whereupon \Vise. fearing disorder in
his place. requested Townes. Wright
and the deceased to leave the rooms.
“When Wright reached the street.
followed by Townes and the deceas-
ed. he obtained and threw a brick st

southerly toward Pacilic street from
them. Wright was overtaken in a
chase. however. by Townes and the
deceased, when and where the latter
and Wright engaged in a struggle on
Canal street.
"Aiter the struggle. Wright walk-
ed north on Canal street. toward the
Wise poolroom to locate his hat that
had fallen from his head during the
brick throwing exercise. or his flight
thereafter. or during his struggle
“On his quest. he met Cori Wilson
and Eddie Boone. to whom be com-
plained of his ill treatment by the
deceased and Townes. Wilson and
Boone so sympathized with Wright
that the iatter's complaint appar-
ently caused Wilson to lead Wright
and Boone and walk north on Canal
Street in the direction of a shortcut
through an open lot toward his
house.

LAWYER’S WIFE
STAMFORD, Dec. 27.—
Mrs. Frederick C. Taylor. wife of
Frederick C. Taylor, well known
lawyer, died at the Stamford Hos-
pital yesterday afternoon after an
illness of a month. The daughter of
Air. and Mrs. George R. Tilley of
Darlen. lira Taylor has resided in
Stamford sin: 1392. shortly after
her marriage. She was born in
Brooklyn. N Y.. in 1568.
Funeral services will be held to-
morrow afternoon at 2:30 in St. An—
drew's Church. She is survived by
her husband. Frederick C. a daught-
er. Dorothy. a son. Keith. and her
sister. Mrs. *Wslter D. Desksm, a
resident 0! Stamford. Her {other
and mother. Mr. and Mrs. Tillsy of
Danish. as well as a brother. George
