cruelty towards their ten years old
son. Edward. The parents are said‘
to have beaten him. chained him to
a table and also locked him out of
the house.
When arraigned the accused re-
fused to plead and filed a demurrer,
which was overruled. The defense
claimed that the acts of cruelty al-
leged were methods of punishment
usually resorted to. Counsel said
that the parents were foréixners
and apparently thought it was not
an unusual way to treat the boy as
was alleged. -
