napping case of Nathan F. Leopold,
Jr., and Richard Loeb. defense at-
tornoys are understood to have un-
der consideration two surprise.movcs
by which they hope to carry on the
battle to save the lives of the two
boys. .
The first would be the filing of a
petition in a. court of equal jurisdic-
tlon setting forth that the boys have
become insane since the trial. This
petition would ask that a jury be
called to determine their mental
condition. .
The other move. it is understood
would involve two steps. one before
and the other after sentence is pro-
nounced. The first step would be
the presentation of a motion asking
Judge Caverly to withdraw the plea
of guilty. now entered. and change
it to a plea of not guilty. The sec-
ond step would be a trial by jury.
