doors and windows by the Stamford
men, which resulted in damage to

In his statement to Deputy Cor.
oncr Henry C. Stevenson of Bridge-
port. Raymond declared that he had
noticed Hughes lying in an uncon-
scious condition in his bedroom and
had finally aroused him. Proceeding
to the kitchen Raymond securell two
more charges. and when the men at.
tempted to force the door he fired
two shots into the floor. lo was
in advance or the rest. he claimed.
and was wounded by one of the .
shots.
The finding or Coroner Stevenson
showed that Raymond had fired the
shot that killed Belle in self-defense.
Raymond, at the time. was held 011’.
a. charge of aggravated assult.
The other. men involved in tho '7
