Italian government through its con.-
sular agent P. D. Ciceo, at New He.-
ven. has asked the state police dre-
partment to report on the attitude
ot'Strattord residents as to the re-
lease from prison in Italy at Glov-
anni Negrucci. serving a life sent-
ence for the murder of Salvatore
Schipani in Stratford in 1916. .
Negrucci has applied tor pardon.
claiming that the seven years whfich
he spent in prison is sufficient piano
ishrnent for the crime. There is 'no
objection in Italy to his release, but
the Italian government has ruled
that Negrucci's freedom must ‘be
governed by the some consideration
that would apply it he was in the
Connecticut state prison. .
Negrucci killed Schipani with a.
shotgun following a. quarrel ovmr s.
horse. He tied and escaped from
