er negroes who took part in the rob-
bery escaped.
The two men who were killed at—
tempted to leap from the root of
the tenement to the roof 0! an ad-
joining building but they misjudged
their distance and plunged to their
death. The other two negroes maidéi
the leap successfully. tiring as they
fled over the roots. They obtained
only 84 from the taxicab. driver.
Two men were shot earlier by a
policeman during; fight in 1 Bronx
saloon. The policeman said he was
attempting to break up a. fight in
which twenty.men were engaged
when the two men sprain; at him
and he fired three shots. The men
are expected to recover.
