tion of the committee. Reorganiza-
tion, he said. meant that the prev-
ious body had failed. and to his mind
the present committee had been
highly successful.

will continue in office for at least
three weeks. An interpretation put
upon )lr. Davis's Words by many
politicians was that Mr. Hull might
not he removed from the chairman-
! ship at. all.
The Candidates Meet.
The committee meeting brought
the two Democratic candidates to-
gether for the first time in some
years. Both Mr. Davis and Gov.
Bryan assured each other that they
were satisfied with each other. and
the platform and would do their best
to win.
\ir. Hull called the meeting to or-
der shortl) after 11 oclock.\'ear1y
all of the 106 men and women mem—
bers of the national body were pres-
ent. They represented forty-eight
States and six territories.-
A tremendous ovation was given to
Mr. Davis when he Was introduced
After thanking the committee he
said:
"No re-‘organilation of the nation-
al committee is necessary. Re- or-
ganization is generally construed to
mean that the organization has fail-
ed and needs to be changed. I am
sure you can find nO bettcr‘oi‘ricers
than those you now have in ot‘tice.
In Hands of Committee
Touching upon the coming cam-
paign. Mr. Davis continued.
“You will hardly expect me to
hate any definite program as yet. I
tactics. I shall spare no effort in
promoting this campaign. I shall
hold m3selt‘ ready to obev any or-
ders at any and all times."
Again discussing the present com-
mittee organization, the nominee
said:
