Ocean Liner Wrecked at Sea for
Films.
Thrilling alturflona abound in "The
Marriage Cheat," a First National
attraction produced by Thomas H.
lnce. which began a. 3 day engage-
ment at the Rialto theatre yester-
day.
One of those taken place aboard a
palatial yacht cruising in South Sea
island waters. A banquet res cl is in
progress in the dining salon. the host
being a. wealthy New Yorker seeking
new pleasures and sensation: in
strange parts. A door opened, cast-
ing a ray of light on the billowing
waters. and a young woman ran to
the rail. In a moment she had leaped
overboard into the black waters, with
no one on board aware of the tragic
incident.
Another remarkable feature of the
photoplay shows the wrecking at sea
of an ocean liner. The New Yorker
huing found his wife alhc on the
island, “as taking her back, reluct-
antly on her part, when the \euei
run into a terrific storm and found-
ered on the rocks. They managed to
make their escape in a. lifeboat, and
then followed 11 series of thrilling
adventures before the young wife
found the love and peace which she
craved.
These are but two of the unusual
features of Frank R. Adams' story.
which was directed by John Griffith
Wray and filmed on I. South Sea.
Island. In the cast are Leatrice Joy.

For the first time since its enact-
ment. the law, passed by the State
Legislature in 1919. aiming to pre-
vent the practise of executing con-
tracts and agreements which result
in the charging of an usurious rate
of interest. was used. when Judge
Edward S. Thomas. set aside 31:5.-
000 worth of mortgage deeds on the
rubber plant or the British-Ameri-
can Manufacturing Co. in Spring-
dale.
Judge Thomas rendered this dc-
cislon yesterday in the United States
Court at New Haven on the ground!

Under this decision, M. Lowenstein
and Sons, Inc. of New York. holders
of the deeds lost their claim for

ant company, wrote the brief upon
which the decision. made by Judge
Thomas. was based.
Mr. E. A. Brinkerhot'f. a! sum-
ford, who had purchased the plant
in 1916. operated this rectory, until
April 1920 when be negotiated the
loan of $125,000 on a. note bearing
interest at the rate of six per cent.
At the same time, he made agree-
ments with Abraham and Leon Lo-
