Retiring Grand Master Charles J.
Fowler in his review of the term of
his oflice said that fraternally the
order was stronger and better than
ever before, and Grand Secretary
\Villiam A. Hutchison of New Ha.-

The Rebekah order also reported in-
creased membership and the grand
master instituted two new lodges
during the year. Colfax at Thomp-
sonville and Martha. Washington at

Grand Master Fowler said the
plans for a new building at the home
in Groton had been completed and
were to be presented to the grand
lodge for consideration at this ses-
sion.

taries' Association to bring about a.
closer union between secretaries and
a. uniform method of keeping rec-
ords. An "interlodge activities com-
mittee" whose work was started at
Bridgeport has daemon the grand

ships into closer touch.

Harold A. Gorham has purchased
from Mrs. Clara. B. Russell. 20 acres
of land, adjoining the Bettswood
park property. It is Mr. Gorham’s
intention to develop the tract into a.
restricted residential section; Work
on the opening up of several new
streets will be started next week and
the property will be known as Clear-
vlew Park.
The property. which is located at
Springwood avenue, now called Betts
Wood place. is one of Norwalk's land
marks. Mrs. Russell, {tom whom
Mr. Gorham purchased it, is the
daughter of LeGrand Betts and the
property has been in the possession
of the Betta family, one of the ori-
ginal settlers of Norwalk. for several
generations.
Mr. Gorham is now working upon
plans which will convert the tract
into one of the finest residential sites
in Norwalk. It will be restricted.
No building costing less than $6,500
will be permitted to be erected. Only
one dwelling may be placed on one
lot. No gasoline stations, manufac-
turing or business structures of any
type can be built.
The new owner will also start
