checked and colored vests, a couple
of carats of diamonds on his hand
and in his necktie and has a Bowery
swagger that is as natural as it is

Venetian costume. A Venetian hat
of velvet outlined in pearls with a
veil of real Venetian lace, hand-em-
broidered. measuring sixyaxds at
the lower edge. is its most important
feature. The dress is made of
twenty-five yards of red taffeta. with
insets of silver lace pearl trimmed.
An evening gown is of white canton
crepe trimmed with a. single strand
of rhinestoned and silver lace. Trains
and sleeves are embroidered in sil-
ver thread. Each. sleeve forms an
individual train.

The advance guard of Charlie
Chaplin company has moved on to
Summit. for the filming of snow
scenes in Chaplin’s new comedy of
the gold rush of ’98. The actual
scenes Will be filmed about 15 miles
through the snows, away from any
habitation. and cabins will be erect-
ed to house the members of the com-
pany, which will number 100. Chap-
lin's personal chef and house staff;
butler and assistants will be in
charge of the culinary department.
The company will be on location for
more than a month as one of the
most important sequences of the
comedy takes place in snow fast-
nesses of the froze'n north.

other, who has practiced deceit and
accumulated $35,000 declines to aid
