PHILADELPHIA. Feb. 29—11:.
’ city's "bobbed hair bandit" was cap-
tured yesterday by police in a pistol
battle with her man accomplice who
escaped atter seriously wounding
one patrolman.
The girl gave her name as Doro-
thy Rogers. and admitted having
participated in the robbery Tuesday
night of a chain procery store. Her
capture (allowed an unsuccessful at;
tempt to hold up a local shoe store.
whose manager balked the bandits
by a loud outcry. frightening them.
She gave the name of her companion
as Paul Worth.
They filed to the street. where
their efforts to start a parked motor-
car attracted police attention. The
man commandeerlng a motor truck.
cowing its driver with pointed pistol,
ordered him to drive off. Stephen
Fabeck. the first policeman to reach
the scene, rushed at the bandit as
the latter stood on the running
board of the truck. At point blank
range the bandit fired. the bullet
enter-ting Fabeck's stomach. telling
him to the street. The truck start-
od leaving the girl bandit bewildered
on the sidewalk. where other police
seized her. Motorcycle police stag-t-
ed in pursuit of the truck. and tor
a «half mile the two vehiclies ex-
changed shots. the —police machine
being disabled when a tire was punc-
lured.

less vessels of various types were
announced today by the Shipping
board in a general advertisement

Foilowing the arrest, late Wednesday
night. of Francesco Nobiie and Mar-
tin Cantor-e. both of Stamford. the
Greenwich police station is for the
second time this week used as a store
room for numerous five gallon cane
or alcohol.
When stopped by otticers the men
admitted that they were carrying
alcohol from New York to Bridge-
port but said that they had no share
in the venture. Centers said that he
was paid $25 to carry the alcohol
and that Noblle knew nothing about
the alcohol. being a passenger.
Sentence of fifteen days in Jail
was imposed on each man by Judge
Mead in the Greenwich Court and
in addition Cantore was lined 8200
and' Nobile 3100. Attorney Fennel
stated that the case would be ap-
