Bicycles figured-in collisions with
motor vehicles nearly three -times
frequently as motorcycles did in
six months of this year. it was
shown by statistics made public to.
day at the-state motor vehicle de-
partment. Ninety-one accidents
involving bicycles were‘reported to.
the department. from the seven
leading cities. as against .thirty-
eight in which motor cycles figured.
Two of these moio rcyclo accidents
were collisions with pedestrians.
Careless bicyclists have proved
to be a. greater menace" on the ‘pnh-
lic highways of Connecticut this
year than in any previous period
Several of the accidents haw.- been
due to failure of bicyclists to carrv
lights when on streets at night. To
combat this danger. certain towns
or the state have undertaken to
prosecute all riders of bicycles not
so equipped.

city, were each fined $50 and costs
in the Hartford Superior court yes-
terday on a charge under the state
prohibition laws. which was in ef-
fect being in a place where it had
been reputed liquor was being sold.

pleas of guilty. '
State‘s Attorney Alcorn was rharp
in his criticism of the defendants in
